Veni, Sancte Spiritus,
Come, Holy Spirit
Et emitte caelitus,
And send from heaven,
Lucis tuae radium.
The ray of your light.

Veni, pater pauperum,
Come, father of the poor,
Veni, dator munerum,
Come, giver of all gifts,
Veni, lumen cordium.
Come, light of all hearts.

* CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 75
Lyford Beverage, Elder

Leader: Unto you, O God, do we give thanks;
indeed, unto you do we give thanks.
People: Those who call upon your Name
declare your wondrous works.

Leader: “Surely at the time which I appoint,
I, the Lord, will judge according to what is right.”
It is God who is the Judge;
he puts down one and lifts up another.
People: I will magnify the God of Jacob
and praise him for ever and ever.

* HYMN No. 92 A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

* INVOCATION, CONFESSION, & LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our coming day’s bread;
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into trial, but deliver us from the Evil One.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

ANTHEM
The Armor of God
Words: Based on Ephesians 6:10-24;
Hymn Text by Charles Wesley (1707-1788)
Music: Based on DIADEMATA George J. Elvey (1816-1893);
Original music and hymn setting by John Ness Beck (1930-1987)

Put on the full amor of God that you may be able to stand firm!
Stand firm, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the Gospel of peace, taking up the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Peace be to you, my brethren, and love, with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with a love incorruptible!

Soldiers of Christ arise,
And put your armor on,
Strong in the strength which God supplies
Through his eternal son;
Strong in the Lord of Hosts,
And in his mighty power,
Who in the strength of Jesus trusts
Is more than conqueror.

From strength to strength go on,
Wrestle and fight, and pray;
Tread all the powers of darkness down,
And win the well-fought day.
Still let the spirit cry
In all his soldiers, “Come!”
Till Christ the Lord descends from high
And takes the conquerors home.

Amen.
