December Financial Update

During the last weeks of December our congregation’s M&O and Missions giving is hoped to be $1,000,000 for M&O and $640,000 for Missions. While the remaining need may seem daunting, especially if you are new to Park Street, take heart. It is typical for 30% or more of the annual budgets to be funded by gifts given in the month of December. The accompanying chart illustrates the situation.

Please pray, remembering that each of us should give as we are able, and that God loves a cheerful giver. Please remember that gifts intended for Missions must be specifically designated as such.

How does the global Church celebrate Advent? Last week, we began our Advent journey in Central Asia. Over the next two weeks, we will continue on to East Asia (SUN, DEC 10) and the Middle East (SUN, DEC 17) to learn how Christians live out their faith in very different situations and how they engage with Advent. Registration encouraged but not required. *Please note there will be no 5:30 PM class this week (SUN, DEC 10) due to Lessons & Carols.

An Advent Call to All-Church Prayer and Fasting

Advent is historically a time of prayer, fasting, and repentance as we prepare for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we near the close of a challenging year for our church, the elders and ministers are working with the All-Church Prayer Team to call the church to a season of prayer and fasting. God has promised to hear our prayers when we cry out to him (2 Chronicles 6:21, Psalm 4:1, Jeremiah 29:12,13). As we seek the Lord with humility, let’s ask him to show each one of us the log in our own eye (Matthew 7:3) so that we may be able to confess our sins and be healed (James 5:16). Let’s come together as a church in repentance, asking God to bind up our wounds, revive and restore us (Hosea 6:1-3).

We are continuing to blanket each day with prayer and fasting, with sign-ups available for time slots from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM during the window of DEC 2–DEC 24

New Sermons App

Park Street Church’s extensive archive includes sermons from a 1934 sermon by A.Z. Conrad all the way up to the present day. This trove of preaching is now searchable using the new Park Street Church Sermons app. This app is distinct from Church Center, and was created by PSC members Michael and Taylor Le, who graciously volunteered for many hours to bring the app to life. Thank you Michael and Taylor for your many hours of work on this excellent app!

Click here to download the new app and start listening on iPhone or iPad. An Android version is in the works.

Nursery Team Members Needed

The Nursery Ministry could use more volunteers to help care for our growing congregation. Serving is once a month, during one of the services. You would be working with children ages 0-3. If this sounds like something you would consider doing, please email Stephanie Verrengia

Prayer Requests

Collective Prayers

“They ought always to pray and not lose heart…And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”  Luke 18:1-8

Let us pray together…

That through repentance we would bear the fruit of God’s kingdom.

For those around the world who are in distress: that the Lord would answer them and set them free.

For those around the world that feel they are secure: that any foundation other than Jesus would be revealed to be insufficient, and that they (we all) would recognize him as the foundation of reality.

For the City of Boston: that Mayor Michelle Wu and other leaders would see the true needs of the city and act to bring health and wholeness to our neighbors.

For the elderly and homebound in our community: that they would be surrounded and supported by our church family.
