the Lord with the sound of the trumpet.

O sing praises, sing praises unto our King.

* INVOCATION, CONFESSION, & LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our coming day’s bread;
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into trial, but deliver us from the Evil One.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

POSTLUDE
Crown Imperial, by William Walton (1902-1983)
Nathan Skinner, organ
Note: Today’s postlude evokes the image of a king ascending to his throne in splendor; it was composed for such an occasion in the human sphere (the coronation service of George VI in Westminster Abbey) and thus provides a faint echo by which we might savor the glorious ascension of Jesus Christ, King of kings, to his heavenly throne.
