Offering Plate
Place your checks/cash in the offering on Sundays. If you wish to designate your gift to the Missions budget or any other off-budget fund other than the Ministry and Operations budget, please indicate so in the memo line of the check. Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check or for cash, on the offering envelope containing the cash.
Mail a Check
If you would like to mail a check to Park Street Church, you can find the address to send your check to below:
Park Street Church
Attn: Finance Office
1 Park Street
Boston, MA
02108
If you would like for your gift via check to be counted in the current year, the postmark date on the envelope must be on or before 12/31 of the current year.
If your bank has automated bill paying (i.e. JP Morgan/Chase) you can set up Park Street Church to receive electronically generated checks, allowing you an easier way to be systematic in your giving.
Remember, in order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check. For gifts made by mail at year end, IRS regulations require that the postmark stamped on your envelope bear the same year as that for which you intend to receive credit for the gift. We are precluded by law from crediting in December any gift received by mail postmarked in January of the subsequent year.
Employer Matching
Many companies match employees’ gifts to charitable programs, such as Benevity, and Park Street Church meets some companies’ requirements for matching gift programs, however, some companies do not allow matching gifts to religious organization or churches. If you know your company has a matching gift program, or believe they might, please contact the individual at your company who handles matching gifts to obtain any paperwork on your company’s policy and your eligibility as an employee. You may also want to ask the contact person for your company’s matching gift program if Park Street Church has received matching gifts in the past. In the event that Park Street Church needs to complete any paperwork, or confirm completed donations, please direct all requests to Joe Ghobrial at [email protected] or call him at 617.523.3383, ext 311.
Appreciated Securities and Property
(Stocks/Mutual Funds)
Thank you for your interest in donating securities and property to Park Street Church! Your contributions are very much appreciated by the ministers and staff. Gifts of appreciated securities and other personal property allow PSC to benefit from the full market value of your gift while enabling you to take advantage of significant tax savings.
You can donate appreciated securities—stock, mutual funds, bonds, ADRs (American Depository Receipts), and other ‘property’—and often times receive a greater tax benefit than you would receive as compared to selling the appreciated securities and then donating cash. Donations of appreciated securities are recorded as a charitable gift at the appreciated amount. Also, by donating appreciated securities you can avoid recording a capital gain in the security (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the asset for more than one year). You should check with a tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities.
To initiate a transfer, please instruct your stock agent to send the quantity and name of the security to our broker’s address listed below:
Morgan Stanley
Attn: Keith McGowan
617.478.6454
28 State Street, 27th floor
Boston, MA 02109
Credit Account No.: 486-194917-630
DTC #: 0015
Account Name: Park Street Church
Please ensure that you are identified as the donor of the securities donated; Park Street will then be able to send you a receipt that you can use for tax purposes. Please email the Finance Office or call our Financial Controller, Joe Ghobrial, at 617.523.3383, ext 311 or contact him directly at [email protected] with any questions.
For gifts of securities, please note that it may take four to five business days from the time your broker initiates a stock transfer to Park Street Church until the settlement date when the proceeds are credited to Park Street Church’s account and recognized as a gift.
